What this tool is
Trust Check is a free tool that helps you check whether a contractor holds an active state license, and see their public permit and inspection records. It reads public records published by official government licensing boards and open-data portals.
What we show
We show information that the state itself publishes about a licensed contractor or business: the business name, license number, classification, status, issue and expiry dates, and city/region. Every result links back to the official source so you can confirm it yourself.
We index contractors and project locations only. We do not index or display homeowner identities. Where a public permit or license record contains an owner's personal name, we suppress it.
What we collect from you
To run a search, we process the query you type (a name, license number, or address) and the state you pick. We do not require an account and we do not ask for your name to search.
If you choose to claim a contractor profile, we collect the name, email, and any phone or note you submit, solely so we can follow up about that claim.
Cookies and tracking
This tool does not require advertising cookies to function. Links to the main product carry a simple source tag so we understand which lookups led to interest.
Accuracy and corrections
License data changes. We show an "as of" date and a link to the official record on every result. The official state board is always the authoritative source. If you are a contractor and believe a record is wrong, use the "report an error" link on the profile.
